RAPID CITY, S.D. -

Local and state Republican leaders met at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center for the annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Saturday.

The dinner honors the legacy of President Abraham Lincoln, and what he did for the country. The event also allows Republican representatives to share ideas, and to celebrate what it means to be a member of the GOP.

According to District 34 Representative Mike Diedrich, the dinner is a chance for all local Republicans to come together and hear ideas and different viewpoints.

"We talk about issues that are important to us, and how do we reach solutions," said Diedrich. "We all have different ideas, we don't always agree on the solution, but we come together and address it in the way South Dakotans do it."

The Republican representatives also got to discuss and present ideas on police and why they should be elected.
