WY troopers seize 123 pounds of pot; 2 arrested

CASPER, Wyo. - Two Wisconsin residents were arrested in Wyoming after law enforcement discovered 123 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop Thursday morning.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol stopped a speeding Chevrolet Silverado near Casper on U.S. 220. The driver and passenger were identified as Thong Xiong, 29, and Choua Khang, 30.

Xiong told troopers that he was traveling from Grenada, Calif. to Sioux Falls, S.D. before heading home to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc. When troopers questioned Khang about their travel plans, she gave a conflicting story.

Troopers also saw several boxes in the truck, and Xiong admitted to having drugs inside. A WHP K9 dog also alerted to the smell of drugs.

After searching the truck, troopers found marijuana inside about 111 vacuum-sealed packages. The packages were found in a large box, a modified washing machine and a purse.
