RAPID CITY, S.D. -

Runners were up bright and early on Saturday morning for the Fools' Four Mile Run.

The April Fools' Day inspired run brings families together at Founder's Park and spans through Rapid City. Runners competed for a brand new matchbox car, so winners could tell their friends that they had won a car in a race.

According to Ron Sasso, the Fools' Four Mile Run director, the run benefits the Black Hills Runners Club.

"The Black Hills Runners Club is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), and we benefit other organizations in getting kids running. We give scholarships, it's a great organization with a great purpose," he said.

Runners also held a 1K kid's race where youngsters could test their speed.
