WAVI looking for hot meal donations during kitchen remodel

Posted: Updated:

Working Against Violence, Inc. is asking for help from the public to provide hot meals to their clients while their kitchen is being renovated.

The 14-year-old kitchen, which has served nearly 8,500 people over the years, will be redone thanks to a $42,000 federal grant. The kitchen will include new counter tops, appliances and flooring.

But while the project is being complete, WAVI clients will not be able to cook.

"We're asking the public to come forth once again and provide dinner donations,” said Kristina Simmons, development director at WAVI. “Get some friends together and cook a meal or with your church group."

WAVI assists victims of domestic violence. In the kitchen, they serve about 30 people a day.

The new kitchen will be complete March 28. If you’re interested in donating meals, call ahead to get on the schedule. WAVI representatives can be reached at 605-341-3292.

WAVI is also is need of hygiene products, paper plates, gas passes and bus passes.
