Peter Sivak scored the game winning goal in the third period to help lead the Rapid City Rush over the Idaho Steelheads on Friday night, 4-2.

It was Sivak's first goal since missing seven games to mourn the loss of his father.

The win gives the Rush a split of their first two games against Idaho, forcing a rubber match on Saturday night.

Idaho struck first with a goal by Max French with 2:55 gone by in the first period.

But the Rush grabbed the lead in the second period with goals by Pavel Jenys and Dante Salituro. Matt Caito added an empty net goal late in the third period to round out the scoring for the Rush.

Christian Frey set aside 23 of 25 shots to earn his third win of the season.

The Rush improve to 19-31-2-1 on the season.

With 19 games remaining in the regular season, the Rush currently trail Tulsa and Allen by 15 points for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Mountain Division.

Rapid City will wrap up a three-game series against Idaho on Saturday night.

The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
