RAPID CITY, S.D. -

The Surbeck Center at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology was filled with health and wellness on Tuesday.

It was the 20th annual Health and Wellness Fair, offering everything from cuddle time with puppies to free HIV testing.

Event Organizer Nancy Spryncznatyk commented on the wide-variety of booths.

“We really have been trying to think of wellness as for the whole person and every sort of facet that you live in life,” Spryncznatyk said. “So from your financial well-being to your spiritual, to your mental health, to your health fitness, nutrition. All of those kinds of things that people commonly think about.”

SDSM&T Food Service Director Jennifer Hauf made spicy Korean lettuce wraps that were a big hit.

“Some people have come back for multiple ones, so it’s just a little bit extra spice to life,” Hauf said. “But people are really enjoying them.”

With this year’s theme being “inner tranquility,” many of the booths focused on alternative care, such as essential oils, yoga and tai chi.
