The Cobblers prepare for the final weeks of wrestling season

RAPID CITY, S.D. -

With the high school wrestling season winding down, the Rapid City Central wrestling team is using every opportunity to fine tune their skills before heading into the regional tournament in about three weeks.

The Central wrestling team has struggled over the past few weeks.

In fact, the Cobblers recently competed in the East-West Duals in Pierre and lost to Brandon Valley, Pierre and Watertown.

This weekend, the Central wrestlers are competing at the Brookings Invitational.

Despite a few setbacks, Central head coach Lance Pearson is confident his team will be ready for the Region 4A Tournament on February 17 in Rapid City.

"We've sustained an injury or two," Central head coach Lance Pearson said. "Had a couple of kids move out on us or one kid move out on us. So we've been trying to adjust our lineup a little bit. For the most part, been doing a real good job. The kids have been wrestling hard. Competing at every dual. This last weekend at the East-West Duals, we had a little bit of a setback. I know the kids weren't happy with their performance. So this week, we're really trying to refocus and have every kid make sure they're giving everything they can for what we're trying to do as a team.
