RAPID CITY, S.D. -

A Deadwood man is facing his third DUI offense after leading police on a pursuit.

Police say the man was crossing over into other lanes while driving in west Rapid City. Refusing to stop when prompted, the man led police downtown, then back to the west side. But while trying to turn south, he lost control and stopped the vehicle on the sidewalk near 1925 W. Main St.

The man attempted to run from the vehicle, but he was quickly apprehended.

Police handcuffed the man, identified as 36-year-old Andrew Gillespie, and noticed that he smelled of alcohol. And during a pre-tow search of the vehicle, police found a container with marijuana inside.

Gillespie is charged with DUI (3rd), aggravated eluding, obstruction, and possession of marijuana.
