RAPID CITY, S.D. -

Months of hard work is paying off for the Rapid City Racers Swim Team. The Racers are sending 10 swimmers to the Annual Midwest All-Star Championship meet on January 13-14 in Elkhorn, Nebraska.

The Midwest All-Star Championship is an elite level event for the top 14 and Under swimmers from throughout Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa, North Dakota and Colorado.

The swimmers had to meet certain time standards or be in the top five in their age group in order to qualify for this event.

Rapid City Racers head coach John Kramer says its unusual to send this many swimmers to the Midwest All-Star Championship Swim Meet.

"I think the most we've ever had is four or five," Racers head coach John Kramer said. "So this was the perfect storm. The kids have been swimming faster and faster each meet that we go to. So they really really have made the most of the season. Our season isn't over yet and they have to produce before Christmas, fast times to show they have what it takes to earn a spot on the all star team."

The 10 swimmers from the Rapid City Racers will be among 73 swimmers representing Team South Dakota.

Here's a complete list of swimmers from the Rapid City Racers who will be competing this weekend.

The swimmers are nervous but excited about this unique opportunity.

"There's a lot more competition and a lot more fast people and it's just a higher level meet," said Rapid City Racers swimmer Miles Johnson.

"It's a lot tougher competition than South Dakota since you have more states to go against," Rapid City Racers swimmer Gracin Larson said. "But it's also really good competition to help improve your times."
