Belle Fourche hosts free Christmas dinner

Posted: Updated:

People from around the Black Hills came together and attended the 36th annual Christmas dinner in Belle Fourche on Monday.

Staffed by volunteers, the dinner is free of charge to the Belle Fourche community. Local grocery stores and community members donated all the food including turkeys and hams.

Janie Stevens, one of the event's organizers, said no one was going home hungry.

"Our community is wonderful about donating the food and everything,” Stevens said. “And I get volunteers from all over."

Stevens also said that the city of Belle Fourche donated the community hall to use for the event. The community not only donated food and beverages, but presents as well. Children were also given a present from Santa Claus.
