Rush tie franchise record with 10th straight loss

It's been a rough month for the Rapid City Rush.

The team has yet to win a game in December after winning six out of 11 games in November.

The Rush were hoping to give their fans an early Christmas present on Friday night and snap a nine-game losing streak as they continued their three-game series with the Idaho Steelheads.

Peter Sivak scored in the first period to give Rapid City the early lead. Then Jack Walker struck for the second time in as many night to give the Rush a 2-0 lead.

However, Idaho scored three unanswered goals, including two power play goals and defeated the Rush by a score of 3-2.

Christian Frey stopped 26 of 28 shots on net for the Rush.

The Rush now fall to 7-20-0-0 on the season.

The loss marks 10 in a row for the Rush, tying the franchise record set in the 2015-16 ECHL season.

Both teams will rematch for a final time on Saturday night. The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

It's "Ugly Christmas Sweater Night" with the Rush wearing specialty "ugly Christmas sweaters" that will auctioned off after the game.
