RAPID CITY, S.D. - Rapid City Police are issuing a familiar warning following a pair of car versus pedestrian accidents that left a man dead.

Just after 5 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of East Saint Patrick Street, police say a 64-year-old man was trying to cross the street outside of a designated crossing area. That's when he was struck by a 2006 BMW headed east.

The man was sent to the hospital where he died from his injuries. The name of the victim is not being released at this time, pending notification of the family.

The 62-year-old woman driving the car was not hurt.

Nearly 15 minutes later, emergency crews responded to a similar scenario north of East Watertown Street on North LaCrosse Street. A 29-year-old man suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a 2014 Nissan Murano traveling south. The man was not crossing in a designated area.

The driver, a 34-year-old woman, was not injured.

All four people involved in the incidents are Rapid City residents. Both accidents remain under investigation.

Police are asking all pedestrians to use marked and lit crossings when trying to cross the street.
