Salvation Army holds annual toy drive

The Salvation Army is holding their annual toy drive to benefit children around the Black Hills on Saturday.

The Christian charity is kicking off December by collecting toys for local children at both Rapid City Wal-Mart locations.

According to Leah Zandstra, the Women’s Auxiliary President of the Salvation Army, the donated toys will help over 800 families.

“We want to be able to give them a really great Christmas,” said Zandstra. “Something good like stocking suffers, a family board game, wrapping paper, stuffed animals, or basketballs or something like that.”

Volunteers will collect donations at Wal-Mart locations on Stumer Road and North Lacrosse Street on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Salvation Army is also still looking for volunteer bell ringers as well to collect donations through the holiday season.
