Sturgis kidnapping under investigation; 4 teens charged with assault

STURGIS, S.D. -

Four people have been arrested in connection with an attack that hospitalized a Sturgis woman.

On Nov. 4, a 54-year-old woman was injured after an assault at a Sturgis home. Authorities have yet to release the name of the victim.

Four people have been charged with the following: aggravated second-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, aggravated assault and identity theft.

Lawrence County deputies learned the identities of those potentially involved in the attack, along with the description of their vehicle. After further investigation, the suspects were arrested in Spearfish on Nov. 7.

The suspects are identified as:

  • 18-year-old Azariah Job Conley of Sturgis, S.D.

  • 19-year-old Moses Isai Avila of Fort Collins, Colo.

  • 18-year-old Elizabeth Loraine Mauk of Fort Collins, Colo.

  • 18-year-old Armando Louis Valdivia of Fort Collins, Colo.

The case is being investigated by the Spearfish Police Department, Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, Meade County Sheriff's Office and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
