    This Saturday, June 23, the Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation presents the 3rd annual Kenadi’s Karnival & Silent Auction Fundraiser. The carnival was created in honor of Kenadi who passed away unexpectedly at age five. Due to an anoxic brain injury at birth, Kenadi was non-verbal and confined to a wheelchair. The funds will go toward an inclusive playground where kids of all physical abilities and conditions can have fun.

    City parks officials advise that the bike path in Rapid City is open for business again. All barricades have been removed, including the bridge under crossing areas at Mount Rushmore Road and Canyon Lake Drive. They warn there is some water in these areas but have determined it is not restrictive for travel purposes.

SPEARFISH, S.D. - A Whitewood, S.D., man has died of injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday morning east of Spearfish.

A 1998 GMC Sierra was traveling on Acorn Ridge Road when it hit the side of a bridge, went into the north ditch and rolled.

The driver, Richard Griffith, 47, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported by ambulance to a Spearfish hospital and then airlifted to Rapid City where he died Thursday.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Spearfish Police Department and Spearfish Ambulance.
