Rush upset Colorado for first win of the season

RAPID CITY, S.D. -

The Rapid City rush kicked off a weekend series on Friday night with the Colorado Eagles. Despite scoring three goals in the first period, Rapid City lost to Colorado in the first game by a score of 5-4.

With the loss, the Rush moved to 0-5 on the season.

But the Rush finally picked up their first win of the season on Saturday night, as they upset the Eagles, 4-3.

Jimmy DeVito led Rapid City with two goals and an assist, while Alex Guptill cashed in with three points of his own. Dante Salituro also scored a goal for Rapid City.

Steve Michalek earned the win for the Rush stopping 19 of 22 shots.

In addition, Rush head coach Daniel Tetrault earned his first win as a professional head coach.

Rapid City is now 1-5 on the season and Colorado falls to 6-1. The Rush continue a four-game home-stand with a Wednesday night match-up against the Brampton Beast. It will mark the first meeting between the two teams since the joined the ECHL in 2014.

The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1.
