BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. -

The Belle Fourche Broncs volleyball team dominated the regular season, winning 28 out of 31 matches. But with the Region 8A playoffs set to begin next week, head coach Loree Schlichtemeier knows none of that matters now.

Belle Fourche has received a first round bye after earning the number one seed in the upcoming playoffs. The Broncs will host the winner of the St. Thomas More - Custer match on November 2 in the semifinals.

Belle Fourche is hoping to return to the state tournament for the first time in four years and compete a state championship.

In fact, its been 25 years since the Broncs won their only state volleyball title.

Coach Schlichtemeier hopes her team can carry the momentum from the regular season into the playoffs.

"It's a brand new season and everybody is 0-0 and everybody is wanting the same thing," Loree Schlichtemeier said. "So this season is actually a lot harder than your first season. You just hope whatever you have prepared for in the first part of the season, you get to build on it and just have a few things you need to clean up a little bit. But you have a good solid base going into playoffs.
