    The community is asked to provide gifts to children in need. Each Angel Tree has dozens of tags, marked with a child’s age and gender, and a gift idea.

The high school football playoffs continued on Thursday night with the quarterfinals. It was a rough night for West River teams except for St. Thomas More.

The Cavaliers upset No. 3 Dell Rapids 21-20 to advance to the semifinals on November 3.

Ryder Kirsch threw three touchdowns passes all to Thomas Rafferty.

St. Thomas More will now play No. 2-seed Dakota Valley with the winner moving onto the Class 11A championship game on November 11 at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion.

Meanwhile in Class 11AAA, Brandon Valley topped Rapid City Stevens, 35-17 and top-ranked Sioux Falls Washington rolled over Rapid City Central, 56-24.

Castlewood also shut out Wall, 54-0 in the Class 9B quarterfinals.
