Police investigating armed robbery at Rapid City casino

UPDATE: Police have released a photo of the suspect, wearing a clown mask, and are asking the public to help identify that person.


RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Rapid City Police Department is searching for the man it said robbed a business with a hammer at 1808 Mount Rushmore Road Tuesday evening.

Sgt. Jeff Alexander told NewsCenter1 a man entered the Rushmore Casino around 6:40 p.m., threatened an employee with a hammer and demanded cash.

Police describe the suspect as a skinny man in his late teens or early 20s, wearing jeans, a baggy black hooded sweatshirt, black work gloves, and a clown mask that covered his face and head. Alexander said the suspect fled the casino with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police are still following up on all leads to catch the suspect. Anyone with any information about this robbery is encouraged to call Det. Ryan Gebhard at 394-4134. They can also send an anonymous tip by texting ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.
