Man shot in leg on Surfwood Drive won't press charges

RAPID CITY, S.D. - A man shot in the leg Thursday night will not press charges against the shooter.

According to witness accounts, police say the man was shot after approaching a group of arguing strangers along Surfwood Drive.The victim was treated for his non-life-threatening injury at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Police responded to 120 Surfwood Drive around 11:15 p.m. Upon arrival, a man took a fighting stance against officers. He was handcuffed and identified as 28-year-old Steven Guevara of Box Elder.

Guevara continued to resist officer commands and was charged with obstruction and disorderly conduct.

The Rapid City Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
