Long Lasting Makeup Tips

RAPID CITY, S.D. -

This week’s Skincare Essentials focuses on how to keep your makeup long lasting. Jess Fewson, professional makeup artist, gave NewsCenter1’s Anya Mueller some tips on the subject.

First, Fewson says to begin your makeup regimen with a primer. Makeup primer is a base for foundation that allows it to go on smoother and last longer. Formulas are available in cream, gel and powder. Makeup primers can also help smooth any fine lines, wrinkles or large pores.

The next step is to use a makeup setting spray, quite similar to a primer but are applied after your makeup. Think of it like the top coat. Another key difference, like the name states, is that the setting formula come in a spray or mist form, whereas a primer is usually a cream or gel. However, Fewson says, you can also use the setting spray before you put on your foundation. Simply spray the solution on your makeup sponge or foundation brush and apply your face.

Finally, use a setting powder to lock in your look. Setting powder helps to blur fine lines and pores, giving you an extra-finished look. These powders are colorless.
