Dream of 13: Folds of Honor scholarship fundraiser

Posted: Updated:

After completing many climbing feats, Seamus Casey of Gillette, Wyo. decided to take his talents to the next level, challenge his skills, and make his journey matter.

In the past, Seamus’ accomplishments have come from a simple love of climbing and a fierce competitive spirit. In July, Seamus attempted to break his own bouldering record, riding a bike 65 miles to Devil’s Tower National Monument, and climbing 867 feet to the summit.

This year, however - for his 13th birthday - he hopes to use his gifts and unanticipated publicity to help others fulfill their dreams as well. His Dream of 13 challenge is to raise funds for 13 educational scholarships of $5000 each - totaling $65,000.

The scholarships will be made available by Folds of Honor - an organization helping the spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members. Seamus feels Folds of Honor is a worthy cause to donate to, and anything he goes through in life would be nothing in compared to those who have have lost a family member.

The support and contributions of others will help those families subsidize the costs of tuition, school books, fees, on-campus room and board costs, approved educational tutoring, and other approved educational expenses that a student’s school may deem appropriate.
