Rushmore, Canyon Lake All-Stars advance to finals

The West River Sub-District Tournaments kicked off Thursday for seven area little league teams. It's the first step in the journey to possibly reach the pinnacle of the sport, the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. 

The Canyon Lake All-Stars finally saw their first action of the tournament on Friday night after receiving a first round bye. Canyon Lake squared off against Harney.

Canyon Lake jumped out a 4-0 lead after the first inning and held on to beat Harney, 10-6.

Hayden Holec led Canyon Lake with two hits and four RBIs and Gunnar Heuchert pitched four innings and had four strikeouts.

Canyon Lake advances to the championship game on Sunday, July 16 at 2:30 p.m. Harney will play Belle Fourche on Saturday, July 15 at 2:30 p.m.

Meanwhile in the 'B' Bracket, Rushmore outlasted Timberline, 5-2. Dalton Dump pitched a complete game for Rushmore allowing two runs on two hits, one walk and 12 strikeouts.

Timberline will play Spearfish who eliminated Sturgis, 13-6.
