Golden Coyote completing community projects as part of training

Posted: Updated:

As part of the Golden Coyote National Guard Exercise, different units are completing community projects as part of their training. One of those projects is at the Sanford Lab in Lead.

The engineering company based in the Black Hills, is rebuilding roads at the facility. While deployed, the company will be tasked with similar projects. Those projects will help with the transportation of troops and vehicles. At the Sanford Lab, scientists will now have a safer route to the water treatment center. Sergeant Cory Staab says this project will help the company learn how to better operate the machinery.

"Especially for our new guys, who haven't operated before,” said Staab “This is a good training area to get in to the equipment and actually operate."

The Golden Coyote wraps on June 21.
