KEYSTONE, S.D. -

A group of 130 motorcycle riders made their way across South Dakota Wednesday for a good cause, and the group includes some pretty big names.

The Kyle Petty Charity Ride is a 7-day trek, which began Saturday in Portland, Ore., and will end Friday in Milwaukee, Wis. Petty, who leads the ride, said the group rode down to Mount Rushmore, through the Badlands, up through Wall and then over to Mitchell throughout the day.

Taking part in this year's ride are NFL great Herschel Walker, NBC Sports reporter Rick Allen, and NASCAR driver David Ragan.

While participants ride on a beautiful route across the country, the ride has provided millions of dollars for charities as well.

"We're raising money for a camp in North Carolina," Petty said. "Our oldest son Adam was killed in a racing incident, and we built a camp for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses,” Petty said. “And that's what this ride is all about — raising funds to send kids to camp who normally don't have an opportunity to go to camp. And we've sent about 8,000 kids in the previous 12-13 years."

The riders began their daily ride in Deadwood on May 13. It culminates in Wisconsin with a tour of the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Museum.
