Nutrition: Planning and Time Management

Posted: Updated:
RAPID CITY, S.D. -

March is National Nutrition Month! We live in an era where working professionals use coffee and energy drinks to make it through the day. It may not be at the top of your list to practice a healthy lifestyle, when you have a family to take care of at home.

NewsCenter1's Natasha Acrie met with Chase Merfeld, who is a dietitian for Regional Health. He ensures that time management is essential in achieving a healthier lifestyle.

"Everything in moderation, that is the key to life usually. Balanced diet, exercise, physical activity, make time for those things," said Merfeld.

There are common mistakes that people make when they are always on the go. Merfeld says you should stay away from fast foods and plan for the day to strive for a healthier diet. Waking up early to make breakfast a priority may help you not binge eat later in the day.

Meal preparation is very beneficial if you are always on the go. Strategic planning when you do have free time can go a long way.

"Sundays is always a good time to meal prep for the week. No one wants to come home and cook at night, said Merfeld.

Merfeld also encourages using a slow cooker, saying it can come in handy. He wishes everyone good luck on striving for a healthier lifestyle!
