BOX ELDER, S.D. -

Every other week, NewsCenter1 and First Interstate Bank award a teacher with a $500 check to help cover funds that would otherwise come out of pocket. Jason Boeding, an industrial technology, robotics, and welding teacher at Douglas High School, is a 1+1 Giveaway winner.

Boeding was nominated by a co-worker who felt the funds would benefit the Douglas Robotics Team. Boeding says the funds will be used to build an arena, so they can host robotics competitions.

"It's kind of what we're getting into. So, it's a first year robotics class," says Boeding.

First Interstate Bank and NewsCenter1 are always honored to be able to provide funds for teachers. Amber Whitford with First Interstate Banks says she's proud to sponsor the program that not only builds knowledge, but character.

"This one stuck out to me, because it helped kids build confidence. In the application, she spoke about their public speaking skills and how it helped them. And I think confidence and a passion is important in kids at any time," says Whitford.
