Sam joins the NewsCenter1 team from Wisconsin. He was born and raised in Franklin, a suburb of Milwaukee, where he first grew to love broadcast journalism.

As a sixth grade student, Sam was chosen to be an ‘anchor’ on a morning announcements newscast at his elementary school. He fell in love with it and certainly didn’t mind the boost in his playground popularity either. Since then, he’s known this is the career for him.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in professional journalism from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where he also played on the men’s club volleyball team. While in Minneapolis, Sam developed his craft through various experiences. He covered sports administration for The Minnesota Daily and also interned in the sports department at WCCO-TV. Additionally, he was a sports intern for WISN-TV in Milwaukee, where he helped the sports department break the news when the Milwaukee Bucks hired Jason Kidd as head coach.

Inevitably, sports play a big role in Sam’s life. He enjoys playing some, like volleyball and basketball, but loves watching all sports, especially hockey and football. And yes, being from Wisconsin, Sam is definitely a Packers fan.

As a new resident of South Dakota, Sam can’t wait to explore his new home and see the various attractions in the Black Hills area.
