1+1 Winner: Jessica Willuweit

RAPID CITY, S.D. - It was anything but a normal Wednesday for Jessica Willuweit, when she was surprised with a $500 check to spend towards a reading program for her students. Willuweit, who teaches at Robbinsdale Elementary, will use the funds for an iPad program called Reading Eggs.

"It differentiates for children to help just provide that support for the phonics skills that are so important for our learners to be able to read," said Willuweit. "They'll be able to use that program to strengthen those phonics skills at their level. And it's interactive and it builds upon their skills at their own speed."

The 1+1 Giveaway recognizes the need for supplemental programs. Shawn Rost, from First Interstate Bank, says the program is "one more way to help  [Jessica's] students achieve a higher level of reading at an earlier age. And we love getting these opportunities to help the youth in our community."

Without the financial support, Willuweit says Reading Eggs most likely would not have reached the classroom.
