Meanwhile, Black Hills Workshop honored its Artist of the Year at a royal tea party on Sunday in Rapid City.

Nancy Weiss is this year's Artist of the Year for the Suzie Cappa Center. The center says Weiss has blossomed into a multi-media artist.

Weiss takes dance and theater classes and performs regularly at a local nursing home, and also enjoys painting.

Weiss says, "I made Christmas cards with a sleigh with gifts in my sleight.  That was fun to do.” In fact the Christmas card inspired this year's tea party theme: Christmas in April.

All of the tables were decorated in each hosts' vision of the perfect Christmas setting. Instructor Brad Winter says the Suzie Cappa Arts Center is an important part of the Black Hills Workshop. "It's been a great addition to our Black Hills workshop program.  If people are having a bad day or if they're upset they can come in and we can put on some classical music, let them paint, it just calms them.  It's just been a great addition."

This is the 8th annual Suzie's Royal Tea. The tea is a fund raising event.
