It's a serious crime that killed 46 people in South Dakota last year, but now there is a new high tech way the state is trying to keep drunk drivers off the roads.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety is offering text message alerts to let people know when and where there are sobriety checkpoints. It will also give you a list of taxis to give you a safe and sober ride home.
The highway patrol says announcing the checkpoint locations might seem counter productive to some, but the goal of the checkpoints is to prevent drunk driving.
