Prescribed Burns in Meade County

If you see lots of smoke in Meade County in the coming days, it's likely from a prescribed burn.

The Bureau of Land Management plans to conduct prescribed burns in the Fort Meade Recreation Area near Sturgis on Sept. 7, 8, and 9, 2010.

Smoke will likely be visible from I-90, State Highway 34, State Highway 79 and the town of Sturgis.

People in the burning area are advised to keep all doors and windows closed while smoke is in the area.  Smoke may be visible or in the area for several days.
