A local author made her debut by releasing her new murder mystery book Wednesday at Borders in Rapid City.
Wednesday night many people attended a launch party and author signing. Author Sandra Brannan says she's excited to share her book “In the Belly of Jonah,” with others. The story introduces a beloved female crime solver as an amateur sleuth tracking down the murder of a summer intern at the limestone mine she manages near Fort Collins, Colorado. It's a fast paced mystery about risk, intelligence, and love. The book also creates awareness about the mining industry.
Brannan says, "I love the mining industry and a lot of the background in the book the settings are in mining. In fact a lot of this book is based around mining. So I hope people get a general sense of what mining is about."
Brannan says ultimately she hopes the book will create more acceptance and appreciation of the need for and reliance on mining. By the way she's spent her career in the mining business.
