Caterpillar Receives Grant from RC

Rapid City is giving Caterpillar a nearly $200,000 grant to help it open in the Black Hills Business Development Center.

The business will set up shop at a 3,100 square foot space.  It's located in the business incubator on the campus of the School of Mines.

Mayor Alan Hanks says it's a real opportunity to bring one of the top companies in the country to Rapid City.  Caterpillar made the announcement in Aug. it was going to set up shop in the business incubator.

The grant funding comes from the city's opportunity capture fund which is an economic development program supported by Vision 2012.  It provides financial assistance for business expansion and relocation.
