BHP Plan for Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is at the forefront of most people's minds, these days.

And that's why the state is requesting utilities file a plan detailing energy efficiency efforts.  So far five utilities in the state have filed plans and those at Black Hills Power say they're working to do so in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Recently, WyGen III went online to help supply the area with power, and the increasingly need for future use.  Those at Black Hills Power say they have programs in place and work with customers on a number of programs to promote energy efficiency.  Now the company is working with the utilities commission to expand those programs to encompass more customers and to keep costs low.

The Vice President of Operations, Chuck Loomis, says, "It's a goal of ours to keep costs low for our customers and through the targeted programs we've had in the past.  We have worked hard to do that and we'll continue to do that and work with the commission to make sure programs continue to be cost effective for everyone."

Loomis says one program Black Hills Power is working on is a lighting rebate which will encourage customers to switch to energy efficient light bulbs.
