She's served our country for 42 years and Monday night, Rapid City native Paulette Montileaux received a special honor.  Senator Tim Johnson recognized her years of service as a U.S. Department of interior employee.

Montileaux, an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, began her service in Rapid City as a clerk and typist for the Indian Arts and Crafts Board in 1967 and later became the curator of the Sioux Indian Museum.

Johnson submitted her service into the congressional record to pay tribute to Montileaux's service to the federal government.

"This is something I really appreciate and something that doesn't come often enough for some people and I really truly feel honored that I received this congressional statement," said Montileaux.

Montileaux retired in March and said it was difficult to leave her position as she still feels a close personal attachment to many of the pieces in museum.
