Accidents During the Rally

The South Dakota State Highway Patrol says 68-year-old Martin Diaz of Gillette, Wyoming died after a crash Wednesday on U.S. Highway 16 south of Rapid City.

The patrol says his motorcycle collided with a car driven by 24-year-old Erin Wilson, of Rapid City, who was injured.

The patrol also says 60-year-old Sharon Slater of Sioux Falls has died of injuries suffered in a Tuesday crash on Interstate 90 near Murdo.

The patrol includes Diaz and Slater among those 6 crash deaths.

At least 9 other deaths in South Dakota and Iowa are believed related to the rally.
