The Ellsworth Development Authority announced the purchase of 230 acres of land near the air force base for a new mobile home park.
The new development will provide opportunities for people who are in the noisy crash-proned areas to a quieter safer area.
The land is located along the Box Elder I-90 corridor.
Lt. Governor Dennis Daugaard says the proposal is great news, and will allow for some people to live in a more suitable area.
"That’s a cost effective alternative to folks who want to leave the noisy zones around the base and move a little further away that's a little safer,” says Daugaard.
The land was purchased with funding from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program for about $2,500 an acre.
