Soldiers Return Home from Asia

After a six-month tour in Southwest Asia hundreds of members of the 28th Bomb Wing returned home Wednesday morning.

Friends and family greeted the troops as they arrived back from their successful tour in Iraq.

The plane landed at Ellsworth Air Force Base at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, and troops say it's good to be back home.

“Feels great to be home.  It’s like 100 Christmases," says Major Cameron Shirley.

“They've been out doing the nation’s business for the last six months and it's great for them and obviously for the families to welcome their loved ones home,” says Colonel Steven Hiss.

Now that the troops are back, officials at Ellsworth say they will get some much needed rest.

"These folks specifically, the Air Force’s official policy is that they will get about two weeks off to spend with their families.  We call it a reconstitution get their personal lives back together and reintegrate with their families and take some well deserved vacation," says Colonel Hiss.

After a few weeks of vacation, the 28th will resume training in preparation for an inspection in Oct. 2010.

More troops are flying in Wednesday night totaling 350 who came home.
