Downtown Improvement Vote Approaches

We're just a few days away from a vote on Rapid City's downtown business improvement district, or BID.

Among many things it would fund a park plaza on the corner of Sixth and Main Streets downtown.

If the BID is approved 211 private property owners within the bid district will pay the new tax assessments.

Some people in favor of the project say the improvement district would create new jobs, business opportunities, and economic growth.

Again the vote takes place on June 29, 2010.
