It's a sad fact but, when the Humane Society of the Black Hills is full, animals have to be put to sleep for space.
And right now the shelter is at maximum capacity.
So, to try and reduce euthanasia rates, the shelter will be holding an Adopt-a-Thon this weekend at the dog park in Rapid City Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Dogs up for adoption will be at the dog park and at the Humane Society anxiously awaiting a new home and family to love them.
There will be door prizes as well as free micro-chipping for your current pet.
