On Friday the mayor of Sturgis made some big announcements regarding the annual Biker Rally.
This year there are a few new additions to the rally. Unlike past years where people flock to the Civic Center, the Harley Davidson Corporation will be moving into downtown Sturgis, and will be offering demo rides for their 2010 motorcycles which was also announced at the Civic Center in Rapid City last month.
Another new event is the "Garage Shop Fabricator Showcase" on the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally lot where industry innovators will be sharing fabricating techniques.
And as always, the rally will offer what no other rally can.
Maury LaRue, the mayor of Sturgis, says, "We have not only the small town atmosphere, but we have the beauty of the Black Hills, and along with that beauty we have plenty of motorcycle riding that can be done."
Another big announcement is that Jack Daniels has once again signed a contract with the city of Sturgis, and although the amount of money that it will bring into the city is not being released it is said to be significant.
David Stang, the AVP Director of Branded Experiences, says, "By coming here we inject probably I would say somewhere around $200,000 into the economy, by bringing Jack Daniels to the city of Sturgis."
The rally will also include Starboyz, a group of crotch rocket daredevils, the Loud American Burnouts, and the Industry Roundtable giving riders an inside look at the motorcycle business.
