Arizona's new law allowing police to stop people on the streets and demand legal status has immigrants fuming, "this is a free ticket to racial profiling," says Mary Dominguez-Santini, President of Casa Chihuahua.
Thousands plan to march Saturday as Democrats plead for Republican support to fix immigration laws, "Work with us to fix this broken system and secure our borders and do other things we have to do. Don't just say no," says Senate Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid, Demorat from Nevada.
Even President Obama doubts it'll happen this year: "I know there may not be an appetite immediately to dive into another controversial issue," said President Obama. However, there isn't doubt in Minority Leader John Boehner's mind, "There is not a chance that immigration is going to move through congress," leaving states like Arizona to deal with the flood of illegal immigrants crossing their borders.
Civil rights groups are suing, saying it's a federal issue, "No state has the right to secede from this country by attempting to arrogate to itself the right to regulate immigration," said Thomas Saenz Maldef President and General Counsel.
Now, it's a diplomatic issue. Mexico's warning its citizens against traveling to Arizona. "We will be working to understand and try to mitigate the concerns on that," said Secretary Of State, Hillary Clinton.
