Republican candidate for Governor Dennis Daugaard says he has a plan to get South Dakota out of this economic slump; his plan is to create jobs and encourage economic growth.
The current lieutenant Governor spent time in Rapid City and Sioux Falls Wednesday explaining 25 ideas he has to help the state succeed.
He says keeping taxes down and controlling government spending will be important for the next Governor. He also says that keeping South Dakota open to new businesses and knowing what industries to target will help create a strong future.
Daugaard said, "Periodically the business community and economic development community need to realize who our target industries are. The world changes all the time so the target industries that may have been identified eight years ago or four years ago maybe aren’t the best industries now because, certainly the economy has changed dramatically."
Also running for Governor in South Dakota are republicans Ken Knuppe, Dave Knudson, Scott Munsterman, Gordon Howie and democrat Scott Heidepriem.
