On the heels of the Rapid City Council is approving a 90-day moratorium on new billboards and electronic signs.
Mayor Alan Hanks says they're looking for people to be on the task force, which will look at the entire sign code, and possibly start to re-work it.
The issue came up because Hanks says electronic billboards are creating a loop hole in the sign ordinance.
Hanks says sign companies are requesting to replace static billboards with electronic ones because they put out more messages than a static one. He says the current sign ordinance doesn't address the issue.
So the task force will have the responsibility at looking at the entire sign ordinance and reporting back to city council by the end of the 90-day moratorium, with any revisions.
If you'd like to be on the committee contact the mayor's office. Applications are due by Mar. 26.
