High School Girls Basketball Scores

After a disappointing 4-20 season a year ago, many fans and spectators didn't expect too much out of the Rapid City Stevens girls’ basketball team.

But with a new coach and a new attitude, the team has surprised a lot of people this year.

In fact, the Raiders knocked off Rapid City Central Saturday night to move into the state championship game for the first time since 1979.

Unfortunately, it was a tough night for Stevens on Saturday.

Sioux Falls Washington built an eight-point half time lead and held on to win the state AA title, 60-43.

Justine Blade finished with 13 points for the Raiders.

Also, Rapid City Central rebounded from Saturday night’s loss by beating Sioux Falls O'Gorman in the third place contest, final score 55-40.

Elsewhere, Sioux Falls Roosevelt beat Sioux Falls Lincoln by 18 points to take home fifth place honors.

Plus, in the seventh place game, Aberdeen Central outscored Huron 15-3 in the second quarter to win 56-49.

Castlewood surprised Summit Saturday to win the state B title; final score 41-38.

Highmore-Harrold squeaked out a one-point win over James Valley Christian in the third place game; final score 62-61.

Taylor Trohkimoinen scored 21 points to lead Newell to a fifth place finish at the state B tournament; final score 56-50.

And Wall used a balanced offense to defeat Viborg 54-39 for seventh place.    

Elkton - Lake Benton is your 2010 state A champions.

The Elks defeated Sisseton by 19 points; final score 65-46.

Also, it was Stickney-Mt. Vernon over Tri-Valley 54-33 in the consolation championship game.    

Four players scored in double figures to help Dakota Valley outlast Mobridge-Pollock in the seventh place game with a final score of 66-57.
