The Homestake gold mine has had it's ups and it's downs, and now you can see the history of the mine during what some say was the most dramatic time.
The film clips show the mine from the early 1920’s and into the 1940’s. The full program will be played Thursday night and through Saturday at the railroad round house in Lead.
The movie shows the history of the city of Lead and how the mine has had a big impact for the area.
Wayne Paananen of Living Map Theater says, "I think this show really paints you a picture of the role Homestake played and not only its support industry wise and job wise for Lead but how they supported the whole state with the Ore tax paying a third of the state budget through the 30’s and much later."
There is another show Thursday at 7:00 P.M. and there are additional showings Friday and Saturday.
