Obviously, top seeds Aberdeen Central and Sioux Falls Roosevelt are the favorites to win this years State AA Girls Basketball Tournament.
But several teams feel like they have a chance including Rapid City Central. The Cobblers take on hometown favorite Huron Thursday night at 7:45P.M. to close out the first day of action.
The teams met once during the regular season back on December 19th, and Central defeated the Tigers by a score of 55-41.
The Cobblers are making their fifth straight State Tournament appearance.
Central head coach Kraig Blomme says defense may be the key to success in the first game as well as the whole tournament.
Blomme said, “You know, all year I talk with the girls day after day after day about playing great defense and rebounding. And I think if you were to go back and look, the majority of our losses are games that we haven't rebounded well in and that gives the other team a lot more possessions. So we're going to focus on those things and hopefully the offense will take care of itself.”
The Central Girls will play at 7:45 P.M. Thursday night.
