The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission have approved the Black Hills Power request for a 20 percent interim increase in electric rates.
The company filed a 26.6 percent rate increase request with the commission last September.
A hearing on the issue was scheduled to take place during the last week of February, but has been delayed until late June and early July.
The hike is to cover costs of the start-up of a generating plant in Wyoming.
