You've heard of paying a baby-sitter to take care of your children while you are away, but what about a pet sitter?

Richard Keyes owns a pet sitting service that offers everything from a quick stop-by to let your puppy out for a potty break to all day service.

According to pet sitters international, the world's largest educational association for professional pet sitters, pet owners that use this type of service say their pets experience less stress and adjust better to their owners' absence.

If you do choose to hire someone to take care of your pooch while you’re away, Keyes says there are several things you may want to consider first.

Richard Keyes, Keyes Dog Sitting Services, said, "If someone is interested in hiring a pet sitter or a dog walker they should probably interview at least two to three pet sitters.  They should interview them at their home and make sure the pet sitter actually likes doggies, the doggies actually like them and then be sure to check their references be sure they are insured as well."

Keyes says he gets as attached to the animals as they do to him.
